Rising Above the Water, Turning Water Potential Into Business Opportunities
Amidst the challenges that the water sector is currently facing, it has been sought that the Philippines has total water resources potential estimated at 145,990 MCM per year. With this, the government and private sectors have vast opportunities in exploring water efficiency and treatment technologies to lead the country towards water security.
In 2020, the Philippine’s GDP growth rate is expected to grow by 6.4%, according to the Asian Development Bank’s Outlook 2019, and persistently remain among the fastest-growing economies in Asia.
In the first quarter of 2019, the water industry registered a 2.8 % growth period according to Philippine Statistics Authority. However, due to the rapid rise in population and urbanization rates, worsened by climate change, the Philippines’ water resources continue to face intense situations, as Asia Society’s Leadership Group on Water Security reports.
