Population Growth : The population of the Philippines ranks as the world's twelfth most populous nation with its population having passed the 94million mark by mid 2011.

Based on estimates, the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004 needs PhP25 billion per year over ten years for the completion of physical infrastructure. These large funding needs were recently confirmed by an Asian Development Bank study which estimates that approximately US$95 billion will be needed from 2008 to 2025 to satisfy urban infrastructure requirements in the Philippines. This will include US$5.7 billion for water supply and US$13 billion for sanitation.

A rising demand for potable water, sewerage and sanitation services by households and communities, in addition to wastewater treatment facilities for industries and commercial establishments, is urgent.
